Why We Built This Site
Mississippi has no single phone book, and it has no statewide 311 line either. The Department of Information Technology Services publishes the State Government Telephone Directory with employee and agency search. MS.gov holds agency cards with main office numbers. The Department of Education keeps an office directory and a separate district directory that works as the statewide K-12 phone book. Universities publish their own staff directories. Courts publish contact PDFs. Utilities split their numbers between outage lines and billing lines. Counties are on their own, one website at a time. We gather the entry points to all of that, plus the area code and dialing references, in one place.
What You Will Find Here
- Pages by phone topic: phone area codes, phone numbers, and phone codes
- Mississippi contacts: state agencies, courts and legal aid, school districts and universities, utilities and outage lines, health and social services, and public safety
- Directory walkthroughs: what the state telephone directory searches, what a school district entry shows, and how to check an unknown caller against an official listing
- Numbering reference: the five area codes serving Mississippi, the exchange prefixes under them, the N11 service codes, the star codes, and the toll-free prefixes
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site. We have no connection to any Mississippi state agency, county office, court, school district, utility, telecommunications carrier, or directory operator. There are real limits to what we can help with:
- We cannot place calls on your behalf or connect you to a department
- We cannot change anyone's directory listing, add a number, or remove a listing
- We cannot verify the identity of someone who called you
- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific scam call applies to your situation
- We cannot guarantee that every phone number, area code, or directory link on this site is current right now
Only the originating office can confirm a current phone number or change a listing. For emergencies, dial 911. For a mental-health or suicidal crisis, dial 988.
